We are a local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) located in
Mercer County, Ohio.

The SCA is devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat, culture, and employing knowledge of history to enrich the lives of participants through events, demonstrations, and other educational presentations.

Our “Known World” consists of 20 kingdoms with over 30,000 paid members.

Members of the SCA study and take part in a variety of activities, including combat, archery, equestrian activities, costuming, cooking, metalwork, woodworking, music, dance, calligraphy, fiber arts, and much more.

If it was done in the Middle Ages or Renaissance, odds are you’ll find someone in the SCA interested in recreating it.

What makes the SCA different from a Humanities 101 class is the active participation in the learning process.

Getting started in the SCA is easy; and if you’re here, you’ve already begun.

While you are encouraged to join and become an official member, there is no cost to attend any of our meetings.  You are welcome to attend events (entrance fees may apply) and we can often times help you get into basic gear at little to no cost.

Interested?  Please fill out our contact form, attend one of our meetings, or visit our Members page and reach out to the Seneschal.

Recent Activities

The SCA is about crafting, food, combat, and good times with friends and family.  Our group, like many, enjoys all the aspects of a modern medieval life. Take a moment to look at some of the events our members have attended, and some of the actives we do on a regular basis.

SCA Harassment and Bullying Policy

THE SCA PROHIBITS HARASSMENT AND BULLYING OF ALL INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS. Participants engaging in this behavior are subject to appropriate sanctions. If you are subjected to harassment, bullying or retaliation, or if you become aware of anyone being harassed or bullied, contact a seneschal, President of the SCA, or your Kingdom’s Board Ombudsman.
