The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts, skills and combat of pre-17th-century Europe.
Our “Known World” consists of 20 kingdoms with over 30,000 paid members. In total, the number of active participants is around 60,000 people world-wide.
Members of the SCA study and take part in a variety of activities, including combat, archery, equestrian activities, costuming, cooking, metalwork, woodworking, music, dance, calligraphy, fiber arts, and much more.
If it was done in the Middle Ages or Renaissance, odds are you’ll find someone in the SCA interested in recreating it.
What makes the SCA different from a Humanities 101 class is the active participation in the learning process.
Getting started in the SCA is easy; and if you’re here, you’ve already begun.
While you are encouraged to join and become an official member, there is no cost to attend any of our meetings. You are welcome to attend events (entrance fees may apply) and we can often times help you get into basic gear at little to no cost.
